Biography

Darwish is an expert in supply chain strategies.
He was among the first to experiment and implement the concept of supply chain management in Schlumberger, one of the leading oil and gas services company.
His experience in the middle east was widely enriched out of his assignments in various middle east countries.
Started in Egypt, his home country and moved through Sudan, to build up a supply chain function supporting the dynamic operations there. Then moving to Pakistan to enhance the same function supporting the revenue growth in the country. And finally settled in Oman to further enhance the cost savings and customer service efficiency in all supply chain division (Procurement, Logistics, Material Management)

After which he moved into consultancy with one of the major business consulting companies, Accenture. He was mainly assigned on projects that are related to the local content. He was among the team that was assigned to the Omani government to realistically measure the impact of oil and gas companies on the enhancement of local content. Also, in developing a long-term plan for international companies to be involved in developing local talents.

Among the clients that Darwish has worked with were BP, Shell, PDO, Halliburton, ORPIC.

After culminating 15 years of experience in the supply chain management he was asked to utilize his experience and implement a similar setup in Baker Hughes. He was leading the procurement and sourcing team in the Middle East and Asia Pacific. He was able to change the mindset of the organization by developing the category management concept in the company. Later this concept was implemented in different regions.

He was able to develop a regional and a geomarket team that collaborated efforts for the benefit of the company, multiplying savings objectives year on year. The strategies that was created by this department helped the company to be more competitive during operator’s bidding and secured multiple contracts in the region.
He was among a few to join a program that builds the next company’s leaders and is widely hailed for having changed the mind set of companies regarding operations, finance, and third-party spending.

He holds a degree in Economics from the American University in Cairo.
